Ted Conroy defends criminal and quasi-criminal prosecutions and acts for plaintiffs and defendants in civil lawsuits.

Ted is the firm’s senior counsel. He graduated from the University of Toronto, in 1954 before attending Osgoode Hall. Since his call to the Bar in 1958 he has practiced from Sudbury throughout the Province of Ontario.

During his more than 50 years of practice he has represented over 15 persons accused with murder and countless numbers of persons on lessor offenses. He has special interest in crimes of violence and sexual abuse. This has led him to become knowledgeable in the use (and abuse) of firearms and edged weapons. Over the past 25 years Ted has developed novel statutory constitutional defences to alcohol-related offences such as impaired driving.

Over the course of his practice, Ted participated in several breaking civil suits. In 1988, he was awarded the continuing designation of Specialist in Civil Litigation by the Law Society of Upper Canada.

Murray A. Scott

Murray Scott was called to the Ontario bar in 1977 and, as a partner of the firm, he maintains an active solicitor’s practice in real estate, business law, and estate planning.

Murray has a wealth of knowledge and experience, ranging from straightforward residential and commercial transactions, to group acquisitions of leased lands and “retrofitted” subdivision involving Sudbury’s first Common Elements Condominium Corporation.

Murray’s corporate practice includes formation of business and not-for-profit corporations, partnerships and joint ventures, as related restructuring, reorganization, acquisitions, and dispositions.  He acted as counsel in the Northern Ontario conversion of an international oil company, local hospital transition, and Northern Ontario distance education re-organization.  He was President of a local manufacturer of radio-remote control systems used in the mining industry.

Murray has an insight for preparing estate plans for both simple and complex estates including wills, trusts, powers of attorney for property or personal care, and estate administration.

Murrays community involvement includes a nineteen-year tenure on the Board of Directors of Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation.  He chaired the Board of Governors of Cambrian College and was President of the Rotary Club of Sudbury Sunrisers.  Murray is currently Chair of Northern Ontario Railroad Museum and Heritage Centre Foundation.

Ronald V. Trebb

Ronald V. Trebb is a graduate of both Laurentian University (1975) where he obtained a B.Sc (in physics), and also the University of Windsor (also 1975) where he obtained his Bachelor of Laws degree (LL.B). He was called to the Ontario Bar in 1977 and has practiced as a partner of the firm since 1978.

Ron’s present practice focuses primarily upon various aspects of corporate/commercial law. He provides services related to the incorporation, organization, re-organization, amalgamation and dissolution of corporation. He also advises his clients with respect to asset purchase and share purchase type transactions, franchising and licensing arrangements, shareholder agreements and other corporate governance issues His practice also encompasses the provision of necessary professional services to a number of Professional Corporations incorporated for physicians, dentists, barristers and solicitors and other professionals.

In addition, for the better part of 35 years Ron has been active as both a Barrister and Solicitor in all aspects of commercial and residential real estate law. As a barrister, he has been involved in numerous litigious matters between vendors and purchasers, contractors and sub-contractors, principals and agents, and builders and their customers. He has acted for both lenders and borrowers in foreclosure actions, powers of sale proceedings, and other mortgage/security enforcement proceedings. As a solicitor, he has represented clients in numerous major asset acquisitions, asset dispositions, re-financing, leasing, and property development transactions.

Ron has given special lectures at Laurentian University and Cambrian College in Sudbury. He was previously accredited and taught Real Estate Law to real estate agents seeking provincial certification through the Ontario Real Estate Association in various locations throughout Ontario.

Ashwini D. Kashikar

Ashwini D. Kashikar completed her law studies in India and went on to complete her LL.M. at University of Toronto. She articled with the firm and was called to the Ontario bar in June 2017.

Ashwini’s practice currently focuses on civil and criminal litigation, wills and estate law and real estate law.

Ashwini enjoys being in Northern Ontario. Fluently bilingual, she is happy interacting with the community in both official languages.

Adam T. Castonguay

Adam is a graduate of both Laurentian University where he obtained a BA in Law and Justice with honours, cum laude in 2015, and the Bora Laskin Faculty of Law at Lakehead University where he obtained a JD with first class standing in 2018.  He was called to the Ontario Bar in September 2018.

Adam practices in the areas of corporate and commercial law and civil litigation, offering services in both official languages.

Some areas of interest for Adam include working with entrepreneurs and family businesses as well as with companies and communities involved in the natural resources sector, including the aggregate, forestry and mining industries.

Cedric G. Bourgeois

Cedric Bourgeois is a proud graduate of the University of Ottawa, where he obtained his Juris Doctor from the French Common Law Program. He also obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from Laurentian University, with a concentration in Law and Justice and a minor in Psychology. He was called to the Bar of the Law Society of Ontario in June 2019.

Cedric is interested in several areas of law and intends to focus his practice in civil litigation.

He is fluently bilingual and practises law in both English and French.

Born and raised in Greater Sudbury, Cedric joined the firm as a summer student in 2017 and returned as a student-at-law in January 2019. He completed the University of Ottawa’s Programme Pratique du Droit (PPD), where he honed his legal and practice management skills through intensive hands-on training with distinguished lawyers from the Ottawa region, and gained exposure to the essential areas of the law. He was awarded the program’s Community Involvement Award for his involvement in the legal community.

Cedric values creativity, teamwork and perseverance. He is actively involved in the Franco-Ontarian music and arts community, having taken the stage as a singer and guitarist. He is President of the Board of Directors of La Nuit sur l’Étang in Sudbury, and also sits on the Board of Directors of VOX Théatre in Ottawa.
