Murray Scott was called to the Ontario bar in 1977 and, as a partner of the firm, he maintained an active solicitor’s practice in real estate, business law, and estate planning until his passing on March 20, 2020.
Murray’s wealth of knowledge and experience ranged from straightforward residential and commercial transactions, to group acquisitions of leased lands and “retrofitted” subdivision involving Sudbury’s first Common Elements Condominium Corporation.
Murray’s corporate practice included formation of business and not-for-profit corporations, partnerships and joint ventures, as related restructuring, reorganization, acquisitions, and dispositions. He acted as counsel in the Northern Ontario conversion of an international oil company, local hospital transition, and Northern Ontario distance education re-organization. He was President of a local manufacturer of radio-remote control systems used in the mining industry.
Murray was very involved in the Sudbury community, having enjoyed a nineteen-year tenure on the Board of Directors of Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation. He chaired the Board of Governors of Cambrian College and was President of the Rotary Club of Sudbury Sunrisers.
Murray was devoted to his clients, making it a top priority to provide the highest level of service with honesty and integrity. Conroy Scott LLP wishes to thank our clients for their dedication and loyalty to Murray over the years. Murray will be remembered for his vast intellect and infectious humour.
The firm has made arrangements to ensure continuity of service to Murray’s clients. In particular, Leighton Roslyn, who has been associated with the firm since 2001 and who has years of experience in all the areas of law that Murray engaged in, is available to Murray’s clients to ensure their legal matters are attended to.
