Family Lawyer – Full Time

Excellent opportunity for an experienced Family Lawyer to join our established firm.

Conroy Scott LLP  is seeking a confident, organized, motivated and self-starting Lawyer with experience in Family Law.
The right candidate will find many opportunities to grow within our firm.

Responsibilities:

  • Working independently and in conjunction with other firm members in all aspects of Family Law matters, and other areas of
    interest, where applicable;
  • Supervising staff working on matters in your carriage, where applicable;
  • Staying informed about changes in family law statutes and regulations;
  • Maintaining precedent documents;
  • Negotiating resolutions on behalf of clients;
  • Representing clients in court hearings, trials, and mediations;
  • Conducting legal research and analysis on various family law issues;
  • Communicating with/updating clients;
  • Drafting legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and separation agreements;
  • Collaborating with other lawyers to develop case strategies;

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience working in Family Law in Ontario;
  • Ability to delegate routine administrative tasks and work well with others in a group setting;
  • Demonstrate attention to detail and commitment to client service;
  • Strong drafting, negotiation, research and organizational skills;
  • Excellent analytical, technical and problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to manage client files with minimal or no supervision;
  • Possess excellent time management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities;
  • Integrity and professionalism;
  • Member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario;

Wills & Estates and Real Estate Legal Assistant/Law Clerk

Conroy Scott LLP  is seeking a full time, confident, organized, motivated, and self-starting Legal Assistant/Law Clerk for our real estate and wills & estates departments.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing documents in residential real estate transactions, including correspondence, transaction documents, client and lender reports, statements of adjustments and funds, title insurance
  • Preparing draft Wills and Powers of Attorney
  • Attending Will signings and witnessing signatures
  • Corresponding with clients and gathering information
  • Scheduling meetings between lawyers and client
  • Corresponding with court office and filing documents
  • Organizing and maintaining physical and electronic files
  • Preparing reporting letters and accounts to clients
  • Communicating with and updating clients on matter status
  • Routine administrative duties
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

The successful candidate must demonstrate the following:

  • Experience in a law firm environment or completion of law clerk/legal assistant program or diploma is preferred
  • The ability to be proactive, work ahead of schedule, meet strict deadlines and go the extra mile is essential
  • Detail-oriented with a positive outlook and strong time management skills
  • Highly organized and strong attention to detail with the flexibility to accommodate work demands
  • Ability to take initiative, prioritize and multitask
  • Demonstrate good judgment and utmost professionalism at all times, and particularly when working under pressure
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and exercise discretion
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential
  • Proficiency with Word, Excel and Microsoft Office. Experience working with Unity and Teraview would be considered an asset
  • French/English bilingualism would be considered an asset

Law Office Administrative Assistant/Receptionist

We are seeking a full time, confident and organized Office Administrator/Receptionist.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Greeting clients
  • Answering the telephone and directing calls to the appropriate team member
  • Processing payments and closing POS terminal at end of day
  • Managing incoming and outgoing mail
  • Managing the Firm’s general email account
  • Managing the distribution of monthly account statements to clients
  • Maintaining office supply inventories and ordering supplies
  • Opening and closing files following applicable procedures
  • Updating the phone system and electronic door access system as required
  • Daily, weekly, monthly, and other routines
  • Other duties as assigned

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to be discreet and maintain confidentiality
  • Experience using Microsoft Office programs, including Outlook, Excel, and Word
