There are currently multiple openings in Sudbury’s Barristers Block with Conroy Scott LLP  at 164 Elm Street, Sudbury across from the Sudbury Superior Court.

Family Lawyer – Full Time

Excellent opportunity for an experienced Family Lawyer to join our established firm.

Conroy Scott LLP  is seeking a confident, organized, motivated and self-starting Lawyer with experience in Family Law.
The right candidate will find many opportunities to grow within our firm.

Responsibilities:

  • Working independently and in conjunction with other firm members in all aspects of Family Law matters, and other areas of
    interest, where applicable;
  • Supervising staff working on matters in your carriage, where applicable;
  • Staying informed about changes in family law statutes and regulations;
  • Maintaining precedent documents;
  • Negotiating resolutions on behalf of clients;
  • Representing clients in court hearings, trials, and mediations;
  • Conducting legal research and analysis on various family law issues;
  • Communicating with/updating clients;
  • Drafting legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and separation agreements;
  • Collaborating with other lawyers to develop case strategies;

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience working in Family Law in Ontario;
  • Ability to delegate routine administrative tasks and work well with others in a group setting;
  • Demonstrate attention to detail and commitment to client service;
  • Strong drafting, negotiation, research and organizational skills;
  • Excellent analytical, technical and problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to manage client files with minimal or no supervision;
  • Possess excellent time management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities;
  • Integrity and professionalism;
  • Member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario;

The successful candidate will be a self-starter with great organizational and time management skills who thrives in a leadership position.  Ability to set goals and achieve targets is a must, as the manager will be responsible for growing the department, working in Wills & Estates and other areas of interest. Competitive compensation based partly on department performance and billing.

Responsibilities include,

  • Managing all aspects of the Firm’s Wills & Estates department
  • Overseeing department budget and marketing initiatives
  • Maintaining systems, forms, and precedent Wills, POAs, and retainers in consultation with other members of the department
  • Interviewing candidates and making hiring recommendations for the department, where applicable
  • Leading department meetings
  • Participation in the firm’s access to justice initiatives
  • Engaging in community outreach and giving back to the community
  • Practicing Wills & Estates Law
  • Practicing law in other areas of interest to the candidate
  • Working collaboratively with members of the department and other departments
  • Contributing to the overall function of the firm

Requirements:

  • B. or JD and licence to practice law in Ontario
  • Minimum 4 years practicing law, with experience in Wills & Estates
