Murray Alan Scott
July 25, 1948 – March 20, 2020
Murray Scott was called to the Ontario bar in 1977 and, as a partner of the firm, he maintained an active solicitor’s practice in real estate, business law, and estate planning until his passing on March 20, 2020.
Murray’s wealth of legal knowledge and experience ranged from residential and commercial transactions, to group acquisitions of leased lands and “retrofitted” subdivision involving Sudbury’s first Common Elements Condominium Corporation.
Murray’s corporate practice included formation of business and not-for-profit corporations, partnerships and joint ventures, as related restructuring, reorganization, acquisitions, and dispositions. He acted as counsel in the Northern Ontario conversion of an international oil company, local hospital transition, and Northern Ontario distance education re-organization.
Murray was very involved in the Sudbury community, having enjoyed a nineteen-year tenure on the Board of Directors of Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation. He chaired the Board of Governors of Cambrian College and was President of the Rotary Club of Sudbury Sunrisers.
Murray was devoted to his clients, making it a top priority to provide the highest level of service with honesty and integrity, something our team strives to emulate in the Firm that bears his name.
